If you donate

- Blood stem cell donor
Blood stem cells cannot be donated regularly but, if at all, usually only once or twice in a lifetime. If you are a registered donor, chances are small that you will ultimately be asked to donate. Nonetheless, we would like to provide some information about how a possible donation would proceed. There are two possible procedures:
- Harvesting of peripheral blood stem cells
- Harvesting of blood stem cells from bone marrow
Irrespective of which procedure the medical specialists suggest, you as the donor always have the final say. You can withdraw your decision to donate at any time.
Another alternative for pregnant women is obtaining blood stem cells from cord blood.
